5th Generation iPod nano

  • What? Apple's latest iPod nano
  • When? Available Now
  • How Much? 8Gb $149 or 16GB $179
  • Where? Apple.com
  • Why is it Cool? The new iPod nano is similar to the last generation but adds one big feature and some nice updates. The big new feature is the ability to record video. That's right, the new nano records video and allows you to add special video effects such as Sepia, X-Ray, and even "Cyborg". A FM radio has also been added to the tiny media player. The Live Pause feature acts like a DVR, allowing you to pause, rewind, and replay live radio. If you hear a song you like on the radio, you can tag it so it's easy to purchase from iTunes later. The new nano also has a pedometer for counting your steps while walking, a larger 2.2 inch screen, support for VoiceOver, Genius Playlists, Genius Mixes, and Voice Memos. It's available in nine anodized aluminum colors. Get more info here.

iPod Shuffle(3rd Generation)

  • What? Apple's latest super small, inexpensive iPod
  • Where? Apple.com or retailers nationwide
  • When? Available online now. In stores soon
  • How Much? $79
  • Why is it cool? Apple's latest version of the iPod Shuffle is dramatically smaller than its predecessor, can store up to 1000 songs, and adds a new VoiceOver feature. With VoiceOver, the Shuffle can announce song titles, artist names, or playlist names. It even tells you when your battery needs charging. VoiceOver is designed to make it easier for you to navigate your music since the Shuffle doesn't have a screen. The new Shuffle also lacks buttons on the iPod itself. You control it with buttons on the earbud cord. This could be problematic if you want to use earbuds or headphones other than the included set but I'm sure Apple or a third party accessory maker will make an adapter of for this. • What? Apple's latest media player and internet device
  • Where? Apple.com or Retail Store
  • How Much? $229-$399
  • Why is it Cool? The funnest iPod ever? That's what Apple is claiming about it's newest version of the iPod Touch. With a few new features, sleeker design, lower price and hundreds available games, we agree with them. Apple has added an internal speaker, physical volume control, and longer battery life to it's already wildly popular device. With the new "Genuis" feature, you can create a playlist of similar songs with just a few taps. If your a runner, you will enjoy the built in Nike+ wireless support. Also, there are currently thousands of add on applications that can be downloaded to the iPod and even more created every day. This makes the iPod Touch's features infinitely expandable. iPod Nano (4th Generation)

  • What? Apple's latest iPod Nano
  • Where? Apple.com or Retail Store
  • How Much? $149 or $199
  • Why is it cool? Apple newest version of the Nano has many added features and comes in nine great colors. The design has changed from the previous "fat" Nano. It is very thin and slightly curved. An accelerometer has been added to enable some new features like shake to shuffle and automatic landscape mode. If you want to hear a different song, just give the iPod a shake. When you tilt the Nano on it's side, the screen automatically changes for landscape viewing. An updated interface makes finding your music, videos, and photos even easier. A new "Genius" feature lets you create a playlist of similar songs with just a few clicks. The 8gb(approx. 2000 songs) model is just $149.99 and the 16gb(approx. 4000 songs) model is $199.99. This new Nano is sure to be a big seller this holiday season. See more here.
