Blackberry Tour 9630

  • What? Blackberry's latest smartphone
  • When? Available Now
  • How Much? $199.99 with two year agreement
  • Where? Verizon Wireless or Sprint
  • Why is it Cool? The Blackberry Tour is the most feature rich Blackberry to date. It features a full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera with flash, high-resolution screen, 3G network capability, GPS, Media Player, and 256MB of memory for applications that can be downloaded from Blackberry App World. Reviews have been very good for this phone with some calling it the "best blackberry available". It's lacks WiFi capabilities but many users would tell you WiFi is not necessary with 3G data speeds. If your in the market for a new Blackberry, definitely check out the Tour. You can get more details here and check out Engadget's full review here.

DoubleTwist

  • What? Media management and sharing software for Mac OS X
  • Where? You can download it here
  • How Much? FREE
  • Why is it cool? DoubleTwist allows you to very easily sync media to a portable device or share it with other people. First, let's look at sharing. Instead of manually uploading content to you favorite websites such as YouTube, Facebook, or Flickr, DoubleTwist can do it for you with only a few clicks. Also, you can add friends to DoubleTwist and the software will automatically share your media with them and vice versa. For example, if you add a picture to DoubleTwist, that picture will automatically download to your friends computer and appear in their DoubleTwist "feed". The second major feature of the software is the ability to easily sync media content to your mobile device. Similar to how iTunes adds media to your iPod, DoubleTwist adds media to your BlackBerry, mobile phone, or Sony PSP. It handles all of the "geeky file format stuff" so you don't have to! DoubleTwist is Mac only for now but a Windows version is being developed. For an even better overview, check out the video demo.

TalkLock (BETA)

  • What? Screen lock application for BlackBerry Storm
  • Where? Get it here
  • How Much? FREE
  • Why is it cool? TalkLock solves a small but annoying problem with the BlackBerry Storm. When in a call on the Storm, the touchscreen still functions. This makes it possible to inadvertently select options such as Mute or Speaker. Once installed, TalkLock automatically locks the screen when in a call to prevent unwanted screen presses. There's a Slide to Unlock option for when you want to use the touchscreen during a call. It's a simple app that works great. If you have a BlackBerry Storm, install this one today.
